Ooh, check out the Neil Gaiman contest over at Fashionista Piranha! I dunno about you, but I’m salivating over the chance of an ARC of Neil’s Graveyard Book. Go enter!

In a surprising bit of awesomeness, I WON SOMETHING! YAY! This is cool because I don’t think I’ve won anything awesome since those New Kids On The Block tickets when I was a kid. :D

I won a copy of Ann Aguirre’s Wanderlust, so keep your eyes peeled for a review!

Also keep your eyes peeled for a new feature here at The Discriminating Fangirl: The Poor Woman’s Book Review, for poor suckers like me who do most of their book buying at used bookstores. The first installment will be a review of Elizabeth Peters’s Amelia Peabody Mysteries, books 1 through 7.

Back in the saddle againI think life might be settling down a bit. The new job is evening out, I moved back to the Big City (and cut my commute from two hours to ten minutes, woo!), and it’s time to start blogging again. I’ve been reading like a fiend, too, so I’ll have lots of material for reviews and chatter around here.

In other news, there is a Barnes and Noble about a mile from my new apartment. OH, THE TEMPTATION! Unfortunately they didn’t have Fables: Volume 3, but still. Books! There’s also apparently a Half-Price Books about five miles away. I will have to investigate this store. Cheap used books? Always a good thing.

Upcoming Reviews on The Discriminating Fangirl:

  • Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
  • Fables Volumes 4 and 5
  • The Dancing Girl of Izu by Yasunari Kawabata
  • Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix (the film, not the book)
  • and FINALLY, my Caribbean cruise recap, complete with a ridiculous number of photographs!

Curious about what else is on my to-read list? Check out my GoodReads page!

I just started a new job that’s an hour-and-a-half’s commute away (on a good day), so Ye Olde Blog is likely to be fairly quiet until I can move closer. My poor internets, I hardly get to see you anymore! [sniffle]

Anyone on goodreads? It’s spiffy; you add books to be read, books you’re reading, etc, and can review and discuss them with friends.

Here’s my profile. Add me, or point me toward your profile and I’ll add you. :)

Ah, the inaugural post. You know, the one where the blogger has no fracking clue what to say, other than, “HERE I AM OMG.”

So… here I am. omg.

The Discriminating Fangirl herselfI’m TDF. I’m a fan, I’m of the female persuasion, and I’m discriminating. So… that would make me The Discriminating Fangirl. :D

I’m 27, have a BA in English, and I hate writing these biography things, heh. So instead, I’ll just blather on a bit about what I’m going to be posting in here. I read loads of books and comics, watch a lot of movies and TV, and I love girly stuff like makeup and perfume. I travel whenever I can afford it, and I like writing. So The Discriminating Fangirl will consist of a whole lot of reviews of a whole lot of random things.

Blather back at me! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
